Today we welcome our presenter, Rev. Allen Wells, to our pulpit. Allen first served as minister of UU congregations in Weymouth, Mass., Hollis Queens and The First Unitarian Church of Brooklyn. Later he served as Director of Religious Education for the UU Congregation of Monmouth County and the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship. In 1987 he opened the Allen Wells Center for Psychotherapy and Healing, a holistic mind/body spirit counseling center in Morristown, which he directed for 12 years. Now as a UU Buddhist psychotherapist, he specializes in the new field of Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy. Allen’s lifelong interest has been in bridging the internal, personal, psychological world, which we commonly call spiritual, and the external political, social, economic, environmental world, which we usually consider material.

When l heard about the horror of immigration detention, l formed a "501C3" non-governmental agency to assist as many individuals as possible in whatever capacity was needed. l did this work from 2005 to 2007, when l ran out of funds, and detainees nearby were transferred out of my jurisdiction." Mary and RoseAnn are members of the New Sanctuary Movement, and Terry, Jean and Jack are members of the Worship Committee. The NSM and our congregation have helped the Carmona family throughout their ordeal with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
