Participants include: Jean Blum, Mary Moriarty, RoseAnn Murray, Terry Cummings and Jack Drucker, with special guests Kathy Carmona and her family. Jean says, "I came to the United States as a child with my parents, immediately after WW2. l know first hand the challenges of coming to a new country, particularly in poverty. When l heard about the horror of immigration detention, l formed a "501C3" non-governmental agency to assist as many individuals as possible in whatever capacity was needed. l did this work from 2005 to 2007, when l ran out of funds, and detainees nearby were transferred out of my jurisdiction." Mary and RoseAnn are members of the New Sanctuary Movement, and Terry, Jean and Jack are members of the Worship Committee. The NSM and our congregation have helped the Carmona family throughout their ordeal with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
